In order to lose body fat you must be in a calorie deficit. That means less calories than your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) In order to bulk up and gain muscle mass you must be in a calorie surplus, consuming more calories than your TDEE. So trying to achieve both muscle gain and fat loss at the same time will just NOT work. It’s like taking two steps forward to then take two steps back. Just focus on one goal at a time, either fat loss or muscle gain. All the while keeping in mind the ultimate goal of a lean muscular physique. The shift your physique program is primarily designed on stripping body fat.
A gym membership is highly recommended for the best results possible, but No it is not compulsory to have a gym membership. If you are unable to get to a gym I have included alternative “at home” workouts that I do when I cannot get to a gym. I recommend purchasing some equipment if you plan on training at home
If you train at home, you can invest in some adjustable dumbbells, (a barbell is also a great addition but is not essential) work out bench, medium exercise ball, power bands, kettle bell, and resistance bands. A skipping rope will also add great variety, and is an easy piece of equipment to carry with you when you are on the go.

First and foremost, we do ask that you seek advice from your health care professional before embarking on an exercise program especially if you have pre-existing injuries or conditions. They will give you a recommendation as to which exercises to avoid and which ones you can perform safely. Yes! As Peter is an online personal trainer everything is done online. All that is required is an Internet connection and preferably a gym. All communication is also conducted via email.

If you have been in a calorie deficit for an extended time (6+ weeks) and your total body fat has stalled, we would strongly suggest opting for a refeed day instead. You can still often incorporate some of your favourite food items normally not “considered” suitable due to the increased carbohydrate allowance on refeed days. Information on refeed days is explained further in during your transformation.
A refeed day is a day where you increase your carbohydrate intake by 100% or more, increasing your calories up to maintenance level or slightly above. This will help boost your metabolism and help restore your T3 and Leptin hormone levels. (everyones maintenance calorie level is different depending upon many factors such as: height, weight, age, gender, daily activity levels etc..) All the information needed on Re-feeds will be outlined during your transformation.
